One of my favorite parts of organizing a space is making it look aesthetically pleasing. One way to do this is by implementing organizational strategies that double as decoration. Not only will your space be neat and tidy, but it’ll look like you pulled it straight out of the Restoration Hardware catalog. Keep reading for some of my cherished ways to decorize (organize + decorate) my bathroom.
Tip #1: Glam Up Your Mouthwash
Let’s be honest, those clunky mouthwash bottles aren’t exactly decorative accents – there’s a reason most of us keep them hidden under the bathroom sink. With this handy tip though, that doesn’t have to be the case. All you need is an empty soap dispenser and some disposable cups.
You’ll no longer have to worry about taking a swig from the oversized bottle (yuck, backwash), or spilling mouthwash all over your carefully selected outfit. Simply pump some minty goodness into your cup and proceed as usual. You don’t have to break the bank to add this decorative tip to your bathroom either – I purchased my cups and dispenser for about $10 at Target.
Tip #2: Add Some Mason Jars
I simply adore mason jars. They can be used and reused for so many purposes, and they always look so effortlessly chic. Your bathroom is the perfect place to add some mason jars and decorize your essentials. I like to use a mason jar to hold some of my makeup brushes and another to store my toothbrush – why pop these items in a drawer when you can display them as decoration?
You can amp the decor up even more by tying bows around your jars and stuffing them with paper confetti or decorative beads. With this tip, your bathroom counter will look like it came out of an expensive home decorating mag in no time.
Tip #3: Repurpose Empty Candle Jars
When your candles burn down to the bottom of the jar, don’t toss ’em out – repurpose them! Candle jars are usually decorative and pretty on their own. All you really need to do is wash out any residue once your candle burns down, and fill with whatever your little heart desires for easy, countertop access. Some of my favorite suggestions are: cotton balls, bobby pins, dental flossers – the possibilities are endless.
To make this repurpose even more glamorous, attach a candle holder to the bottom of it. Simply adhere the base of the empty candle jar to the holder using a hot glue gun. Once it dries – place on your bathroom counter, fill with desired goodies, and admire your crafty, decorative accent. If you don’t have an extra candle holder on hand, you can find the one above for only $4.99 at World Market.
