Finding Harmony in Travel: Punta Cana

They say, “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” I have to say, I agree. I was fortunate to visit the beautiful region of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in the Spring of 2015. This post is not only meant to document my trip, but to also provide helpful tips to those who might be heading that way.

Punta Cana

Punta Cana is gorgeous. The weather was mild in March – I don’t think it ever exceeded 80 degrees. It grew a bit chilly at night, so be mindful of that if you’re traveling during that time. We stayed at The Level at the Melia Caribe Tropical. I would highly recommend this all-inclusive resort. From the cleanliness of the property to the attentiveness of the staff, everything was impeccable. Below is a picture showing one of the swimming pools at the resort.

When traveling, many people are interested in venturing on excursions. I could not be a bigger advocate of the one that we went on. While some excursions are a few hours long, ours took up most of the day – as it involved multiple activities. The outing was offered by Scape Park – a natural theme park in Cap Cana with numerous attractions. The tour included round trip transportation and kicked of at 8AM. We boarded a bus and were whisked off to Cap Cana where our eventful day began with a beautiful catamaran cruise in the Caribbean Ocean. The boat stopped near a coral reef where we swam and snorkeled.

The water was breathtakingly clear. We then cruised back to land where we boarded a bus that took us to Hoyo Azul – a natural pool of crystal-clear blue water. Believe it or not, the below photo is not photoshopped.

After spending some time swimming in the blue waters, we headed back to a resort in Cap Cana for lunch. After our stomachs settled, we boarded a bus to Juanillo Beach – a beautiful white sand beach on the region’s coast.

After relaxing at the beach for a couple of hours, we boarded the bus that took us back to our resort. The outing was an unforgettable experience.

If you’re going to be traveling in that area, here’s a link to the excursion:
